Ancestry.com is a great resource. My advice here is...do your OWN research. Many families have their research listed, but it is INCORRECT. Take the time to view their sources of information. Just because names match does not mean that they are the same person !!!!

I have a cousin who believes our great grandmother was adopted because of information she copied from Ancestry! The info was wrong, but it's hard to convince her not to believe everything she sees on ancestry!

Yes, that is one flaw in the system. If the info is not documented with proof, be very careful what you take for truth!
